Young Behavioural OR Colloquium
Madrid, 7th July 2018
Early career, post docs and researchers working toward a PhD are invited to present their work to the Young Behavioural
OR Colloquium organised by the European Working Group on Behavioural OR,
and will be hosted at the Real Academia de Ciencias in Madrid, Spain. The Colloquium
is a satellite event of the EURO 2018 conference to be held in Valencia, Spain, 8th-11th July 2018, and is supported by the Instituto de Ciencias Matematicas (ICMAT).
This event will provide an opportunity for researchers with up to ten years of experience in OR and cognate disciplines
to explore their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished
experts in the field.
The Colloquium will provide participants with an opportunity to:
- Present their research work in a relaxed and supportive environment
- Receive feedback and suggestions from peers and experienced faculty members
- Gain an overview of the breadth and depth of Behavioural OR studies and methodologies
- Obtain insight into directions for Behavioural Operational Research taken by other researchers
- Discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job market, and other issues and
- Network with faculty, peers and future colleagues

Paper submission
- Please submit your paper to i.leppanen@lboro.ac.uk by April 1st, 2018.
- Notification of acceptance: 15 April, 2018.
Requirements
- The colloquium is open only to researchers (early career, post docs, PhD students) with up to ten years
of experience in OR and cognate disciplines;
- Each paper must be presented by one of the authors of the paper;
- Submissions will be judged mainly on relevance, originality, technical quality and clarity;
- Paper format and length: 2-8 pages, excluding references.
- The paper should include the following information:
motivation including research aims and research questions, theoretical foundations,
research approach, preliminary results (if applicable), overview of schedule and indication of current state.
Fees, travelling and accommodation
- There are no fees for this event.
- Information about public transport and accommodation options will be available soon.
- Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas
is the main international airport serving Madrid in Spain, and it is only 12 kilometres from Madrid city
centre. Participants attending the EURO 2018 conference in Valencia can take the high-speed train
Madrid-Valencia, which takes about 1h 40 min.

EURO Journal on Decision Processes: Special Issue on Behavioural OR
Authors of accepted papers will be encouraged to submit their manuscripts to the forthcoming
Behavioural OR Special Issue of the EURO Journal on Decision Processes, edited by L. Alberto Franco
and Raimo P Hamalainen (the Call for Papers will be available soon at bor.aalto.fi).
